Lesbians in Fleeces

Like Clare Balding but without the horses

The call of the fleece...

As lesbians we've all been there. At first it's just a feeling, you know you're different but you can't quite put your finger on it. Slowly the realisation dawns, but you fight it! What would people think? You're friends and family? Surely you'd be shunned, pushed from the world you knew. But you can't fight it forever, it's who you are, part of the very fibre of your being and the fibre is a polyester-blend. Let's face it, you're nothing but a second-rate Hetero without THAT fleece.

You finally slip on that polyester microfibre and your world changes forever. Suddenly you can't pass a Mountain Warehouse without stopping to pick-up an emergency kagoule, walking socks, and a compass. You realise you're not alone. You might have spent your 20s spotting dykes by their eyebrow rings and buzz cuts but once you hit 30 you spot a pair of walking boots and a stylish gilet and your gaydar sings (Prompting the age-old question: Are they gay, practical dressers, or European?)

In those early days you're like a new born lamb, gambling through the beautiful countryside, looking cute, without a clue in the world. You attempt to climb shear rock faces along paths your map swore existed, wade through a bogs in walking boots the women in the shop promised were waterproof and forgot to take water on a 27km hike in 25 degree heat.

That's where we come in...
We are two lesbians in fleeces with no discernible skills... But we can tell you our mistakes and the best place to get a pint and rest your toes after a myriad of minor fuck-ups (and some major ones). Who knows, along the way we might even be able to tell you some success stories.

Variety is the spice of life

We venture out of the Lake District, to celebrate pride in Cardiff and climb the third highest mountain in Wale, Pen Y Fan. An excellent starter walk for all the family and our ineptitude didn't result in us getting horribly lost.
